It stars newcomers Rajneesh Duggal and Adah Sharma in the lead
As the name suggests,1920 is a period movie.
The story:
Rajnesh marries Adha against his family's wishes. They are leading a happy married life when Rajneesh, kinda an architect with the government, gets transferred to Palambur or some similar sounding village.
He is assigned the task of building a great hotel at a site where currently an ancestral palace stands tall and magnificent. The palace, as it appears, is haunted and has a past.
How the ghosts of the past troubles and scares the hell out of the lead stars is what the movie is about. It also has a period love story beautifully unfolding in the last few reels.
The movie boasts of some fine acting by Adah Sharma. She has done a great job in scaring us. She is too good. The location and cinematography are also tempting.
The hero,Rajneesh, has great screen presence but acting wise, the role does not offer much.
The second heroine, Anjori Alogh ,has that required mystique and fetching look.
The special effects are pretty good for a Hindi movie. The director Vikram Bhatt has done a good job.
On the downside, the music is terrible, though one song, 'Aisa Jalta Hain Jiya' is haunting enough for such a movie. And the movie is bit slow at times, though overall,it is pretty sleek.
If you do not watch too many Hollywood horror movies (like me), then, chances are that you will like 1920 and get scared too..
Verdict..... Go watch it...but make sure you watch the movie in one go and not in bits and pieces over several days.
